"Baby" Soto

My dear ‘Baby’ came into our lives around Sep 88, right at a time when I needed comfort the most, during a divorce… she was a stray, very young, and pregnant “Calico” that my children found around their Dad’s house, and feeling sorry for her, thinking what if a car hits her, ended up at our new place, to stay in our lives for almost 17 years… we figured she was probably born around 14 Feb 88… throughout those years, my loving, faithful companion went through having babies, getting fixed, surviving liver failure, losing half of her tail, an ear tumor, stomach tumor, a very bad eye infection after getting them all scratched up… special thanks go to Dr Patterson, who always treated her so well and for recommending Dr Bonney, who saved her beautiful green eyes last year, even though she was already so old… Baby was the Boss, no matter how many other cats we had through the years, she always made it very clear to them that Mommy’s lap was hers, as well as Mommy’s bed and being around Mommy, specially producing that unintelligible “meow” whenever Mommy was preparing her favorite soft food to let the other cats know she was first to be fed… she loved to drink fresh water from the faucets, loved her catnip toys, as well as scratching Mommy’s carpet whenever she felt like it… she was funny, very hyper and full of energy for her age… loved to go outside to chase birds and take a little sunlight on the patio… loved to make Mommy proud by being the one around visiting friends and family, while the other cats were hiding… would run up and down the stairs wherever Mommy went… until a few days ago when all of the sudden, she stopped eating, stopped drinking and slipped away in a matter of hours… God knows Mommy wanted to do more for her, but all Mommy could do was being there for her, holding her, caressing her, comforting her, praying for her… she gave Mommy a last long straight look into her eyes like saying “It’s okay, Mommy, don‘t cry, it’s time for me to go…” and she left, very peacefully, on Monday, 11 Jul 05, at 9:55am… on the very last of her 9 lives!!!

Thank you so much, my dear Baby, for all the years of companionship, loving purrs, and sharing so much love and affection it‘s hard to put in writing… for being Mommy’s wonderful and beautiful “green eyes” kitty until your last moment, your last day… we’ll always love you and carry you in our hearts until the day we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge… you lived a very long and happy life…

Love you lots, Mommy, Crystal, Kary, Jessica, Jason, Nicole, Clarice and the rest of the Soto-Monge family
