John Candy Quiroga

John Candy passed away in the early morning of November 1, 2009. He died surrounded by his family that so loved him. He was 16 years old and he would have turned 17 at the end of December. He was named after our favorite actor/comedian, John Candy. Our John Candy was about 5 months when he came into our lives and on the day the actor was found dead. We weren’t sure whether he was going to live up to his namesake. He did grow into a big, funny and beautiful cat. John Candy was such a loving cat with a dog’s personality. He was always at the door to greet us. If he was outside, he would run to greet us. In his younger days he was quite the hunter. He always made sure to leave us gifts on the porch floor. The birds certainly did not appreciate his hunting skills. One morning we could not help but laugh as he was trying to cross our backyard and a bird kept swooping down on him and pecking him on the head. John Candy brought much laughter and joy into our lives with his funny antics. We will always cherish the memories. His favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas. He loved the smell of turkey cooking in the oven and he also loved sitting under our christmas tree. We miss him so much. But we take comfort in knowing that when our time comes, he will certainly come to greet us.
