Luke Moreno-Pierce

luke moreno-pierce

Our beloved Luke crossed the rainbow bridge on Sunday, November 21, 2021, after taking his last breath at 9:50pm. He was at home in his bed surrounded by his loving family at his side as he passed. Luke was born on March 24, 2007, but he entered our lives when we adopted him on May 30, 2007. He made a statement when he chose us as his forever family after he marked his fur daddy’s shoe and then ran beneath his fur momma’s legs at the Humane Society. From that point forward, our lives changed forever.Luke ‘s place in our family was in the heart of each one of us. He always seemed to know how to comfort all of us, even in our darkest moments. He was our best buddy, confidant, shadow, protector, guardian, supervisor, best friend, and a fighter. No matter what kind of day we had, we were always welcomed home by Luke waiting patiently at the front window with his big smile and dancing tail as we arrived. He was rambunctious, strong willed, intelligent, loving, brave, affectionate, and loyal. He loved basking in the sun, endless backstrokes, and ear rubs.  He played an integral role in all our lives. We will miss our hiking adventures, trips to the store, walks in the neighborhood, our dog drives, our vacations, and our time spent side by side lounging at home. We will also miss the sounds that filled our home for the past 14 ½ years like his nail tapping on our wood floors, his “I want something” grunts, and his barks.   We will miss his pushing through the bathroom and bedroom door to be with us, his innocent looks expressing “I didn’t do it” and his taking over our bed. He was our constant companion and will be irreplaceable.  Luke was more than our best dog, he was a son, nephew, grandson, uncle, and brother to our family.  Despite our heavy and broken hearts, we know Luke will no longer be suffering and can finally rest until we can be together again at the rainbow bridge.

  4. I met Luke at Dr. Moreno’s office. He was a loyal friend to his family. In turn his human parents loved him very, very much. Luke had his Grandma trained to sneak him treats when Mom and Dad were at work! He was highly intelligent. It hurts so much to lose a friend. I hope that his family’s heart heals. His family took extra special care of him during his senior years. Luke is in heaven now making friends with Buster my Boxer, Bennett my Boxer, and Shakespeare- aka Shaky- my Bassett. They’re chasing squirrels and eating hamburgers!
