Luna Kirby
April, 2004 to January 3, 2019

We adopted Luna and one of her sisters after they were found with five other puppies at a landfill in 2004. After that she never left her Mama’s side. She was a shepherd/heinz 57 variety. The vet thought she would be a middle-sized dog, but she turned out to to be closer to the size of a bear! Although she was always the gentlest dog you would ever want to meet, Luna kept us safe for many years with her very energetic barking every time the doorbell rang.
She had an endearing habit of nudging her head between your knees to get a petting, and was always searching out her Mama wherever she went in the house. She was a friend to all she met, and was especially patient and gentle with our grandkids and other young children. Near the end, she needed help to walk and was almost blind, but she still had a hop in her step when it came to things like getting a treat, or taking a stroll in the yard. She was part of our family for almost 15 years, and was dearly loved every single minute. She lived a long and happy life, and we miss her terribly. She was Mama’s girl.
