Otto Octavius Gorath DeThorne

otto octavius dethorne

Otto Octavius Gorath DeThorne crossed the bridge Saturday, October 12th, 2024 to join his sisters Rory and Pepper, and his brothers Jake, Dante and Brinkley. Otto literally landed on our doorstep. A neighbor saw him wandering our neighborhood in the early hours and being that he looked like a Frenchie, they thought he was ours. While Otto was not ours, he became ours after an extensive search for his family was unsuccessful; he ran away from his prior home to then run away with our hearts. Otto was the most energetic, loving, cuddling, flexible, and mischievous guy you’d ever meet. He always looked like he was up to something naughty. He was Gumby in canine form. He would leap like a kangaroo, run like a cheetah, and perform flips like a gymnast. We didn’t know his exact birthday, so we assigned him a birthday to match one of my mom’s favorite actors (Chuck Norris – March 10th).

While their first meeting didn’t go well, Otto’s brothers (Bartholomew and Winston) and sister (Bella) quickly came to welcome and love Otto as much as we did. Many times you could see them not only sleeping together, but on top of each other. The boys would constantly jockey for position to be next to their mom for hugs and cuddles; Otto would always find a way to be close to at least one of us. He loved cuddles, hugs, and ear bites. We choose not to think of how Otto left this World, but to remember how he joined OUR World and how he lived in it; fearless and full of LOVE. Mom and I will miss you. We will miss your silliness, miss you running with your tongue hanging out and flopping in the breeze as you outran your brothers, and most of all how much you loved everyone you came in contact with.

We are sad you are no longer with us physically, but find relief that you are no longer in pain. Run free, Run Fast, and Run until we meet again!… Love you always Otto.
