Steven Tyler

steven tyler

On a summer day in June 2000, still standing was McCreless Mall. With the help of a fellow associate of my mothers, my sister and I had convinced him that taking a stroll down to the pet store on the east wing of the mall would be a great idea. What was to come of that day would change our lives forever. We adopted a small black and gray american short hair. Although he had some imperfections along his lips and tail, we did not think twice that this would have been the best choice for us. His scar that sat upon on his lips somehow gave us an inspiration that Steven would be the name because they were similar to Steven Tyler’s lips of Aerosmith.

For the next seventeen years we had no idea how much of an impact Steven would leave in our home and in hearts. Steven was one of a kind. Steven knew the definition of loyalty, for he was to show it day in and day out. From following our car to the next stop sign in our neighborhood, or even given the chance to wander freely, he never left.

One of Steven’s favorite foods was tomatoes. Not a single tomato in sight was safe. He never said no to food. Along with tomatoes he enjoyed olives, watermelon, and loved drinking water from our other dog’s bowls. He ruled the house and was respected.

Adopting Steven so long ago made an impact on our lives. He taught us what it meant to love and not give up on what you love. We never cared about how much time, effort, or even money we had to put into caring for him because he was apart of the family. We never questioned what he needed. His needs were a priority for us. Steven passed away peacefully on December 16, 2017 at 7:14 p.m. He was surrounded by his loved ones, and his furry dog siblings at his bed side until the end.

If it is one thing to take from this obituary is that an animal’s love can impact a person’s life in the most beautiful way.
