Tippy, a border collie, went to the Rainbow Bridge on May 18, 2017, at about 14 years of age. He was the beloved companion of L. B. Proffitt for most of those years. When L. B. Proffitt passed away at the age of 100, Tippy came to live in San Antonio, Texas, with Joy Proffitt Swayze. He had previously lost his canine friend Bella and he missed his Master, his Pettus family and his large yard. He quickly learned to look forward to daily walks and when the leash was brought out would bark and spin in a circle. As he aged, his back and hips started to break down but he still wanted to go for his daily walk, although a little more slowly. Tippy had a very good day before he died and sometime during the night he laid on his bed, stretched out and peacefully died without any indication of a struggle. Tippy was cremated and his ashes will be delivered to the burial place of his Master – L. B. Proffitt in Olney, Texas, and scattered there.
