Yogi Luna-Bratton

yogi luna-bratton

Yogi, our beautiful Golden Retriever, passed away sometime during the early morning hours of December 21, 2007 after a year and a half battle with cancer. Yogi adopted us and his brother, Bear, in the fall of 2001 in San Diego, California. Yogi’s original parents had to let him go because their apartment complex was being converted to a condominium complex and pets were no longer allowed. Their loss was definitely our gain. Bear and Yogi immediately became best buddies. In May of 2006, shortly before Yogi was diagnosed with cancer, Micky joined our family and Yogi took his new little brother under his wing and taught him what to do in order to wrap us around his paw. Throughout the years, Yogi joined us and his brother, Bear, on road trips to San Francisco, the northern California coast, Lake Tahoe, Big Bear Lake, Palm Springs, and the Texas Gulf Coast. Yogi’s ultimate road trip came when we relocated to San Antonio from San Diego in October of 2003. A perfect travel companion, Yogi, was satisfied with sitting in the backseat and gazing out the window as his brother, Bear, acted as the co-pilot. Yogi was our sweet angel. Whenever we came near him, he would immediately roll over on his back and wait for his belly-rub. If you didn’t stop rubbing his belly, he wouldn’t get up from that position. The only thing he loved more than his belly-rubs was playing fetch. If you showed him a ball (it didn’t matter what kind!), he would go crazy and bark up a storm until you threw the ball. He gave us so much love. The only thing he asked in return was that we rub his belly and play fetch with him. Bear and Micky miss their brother and we all look forward to seeing our beautiful baby, Yogi, in Heaven. We know he’ll be waiting for us on his back and looking at our hands to see if we have a ball for him to fetch. We’ll love you forever baby.
